Salvatore of Lucan

Salvatore of Lucan, born in 1994, his real name is Salvatore Fullam, an Irish artist from Lucan, Dublin, graduated from NCAD in 2016.
Salvatore is half Irish half Bangladeshi with an Italian name, regularly where he is from, decided to use the name Salvatore of Lucan as his artist’s name. Like the Renaissance artists who were known by their place of birth, such as Leonardo da Vinci, but it also reflects where he is from.

Salvatore produces autobiographical scenes of domestic life. He primarily paints large-scale works most of which focus on his own life and often explore themes of home, identity and relationships.
Salvatore of Lucan was commissioned in 2023 by the Arts Committee of the Law Library to paint the six former Taoisigh who “trained” at King’s Inns in Dublin. They are John Bruton, Liam Cosgrove, John A Costello, Garrett Fitzgerald, Charles Haughey and Jack Lynch. The prize-winning Artist brings his unique style to the commission.

Salvatore spoke of this painting in an interview with his sister for IMMA magazine:
“I have a memory of moving apartment in Munich, and being got sugary cereal, or like a sweet cereal, as a treat. But then when we got to the new apartment, there was no, eh, bowls. So, I had to eat cereal out of a plate with like Mary topping up the milk and I remember being quite upset about that.”
